Adult Computer Classes

Using library laptops, get practical, hands-on experience with professional instructors. Each class is a 2 part series; please only register if you can attend both classes.

This program is provided through a Digital Literacy and Workforce Development Grant from the PA Department of Labor and Industry.

Class Schedule:

File Management

Description: An essential computer skill is understanding how and where files are saved and how to retrieve them. Learn the basics of managing files and organizing your computer in the new Windows 11 environment. Topics will include creating folders and sub-folders; moving, copying, renaming and deleting files; sorting and filtering files by their properties; using the search function to find specific files by name; and renaming and recycling files.

Microsoft Word

Description: Learn the tips and tricks to Microsoft Word! This course introduces the student to Microsoft’s word processing program. Topics include using the tools ribbon; creating, saving and printing documents; highlighting and formatting text; spelling and grammar check; headers and footers; and inserting and manipulating objects such as tables, shapes and pictures.

Microsoft Excel

Description: Master the basics of spreadsheets! This course introduces the student to Microsoft Excel, a spreadsheet program used for handling large amounts of data or for managing numbers and equations, such as in a budget.

Mondays, October 23 & 30, 5-7 PM

The Cloud & Google Drive

Description: You’ve heard all about the Cloud and computers, but what is it really? Get introduced to the cloud-based Google Drive platform. Learn how to use Google Drive to save, edit, and share your files so you can access them anywhere you have an internet connection.

Tuesday, November 14, 5-7 PM

Intermediate Excel

Description: The class will review formulas and introduce some of the most commonly used Excel functions. Other topics for discussion include organizing and analyzing data through formatting, filtering and validation. This class is intended to be a “third session” of the previous Excel classes.
