Nancy Corson Creative Writing Fund sponsored by the Friends of the Library
The Friends of the William Jeanes Memorial Library established the Nancy Corson Creative Writing Fund in 2012, in honor of our former long-time Friends board member, who passed away in February of 2012. Nancy was an active and passionate member of the Friends, serving as Membership Chair and maintaining the membership records for many years. In recognition of Nancy’s passion for writing, the Friends have committed to an annual contribution to this fund. Members of the public are welcome to make contributions to the Nancy Corson Creative Writing Fund, which is managed by the Library.
In past years, the Nancy Corson Creative Writing Fund has made an annual writing contest possible. Each year, children have submitted original stories to be evaluated in the contest. Winners were selected from each grade level and honored with a reception, a gift card, and a printed and bound copy of their book. A list of winners from the last contest (2017) can be found here. Stop by the library to check out the bound collections of contest winners from every year. Since 2017, instead of a writing contest, the Nancy Corson Creative Writing Fund is used for programming to encourage creative writing among children, teens, and adults!
