Children’s Summer Reading Challenge (Ages 5-11)

Read and attend programs and win free books and chances to win prizes! Here’s how:

From June 13th through August 3rd, stop by the Children’s Library to pick up a Summer Reading Log! Decide on a weekly reading goal for yourself and record it in your Reading Log.
Use your Log to keep track of time spent reading and William Jeanes programs attended.
- Throughout the summer, stop by the Children’s Library and show us your Log. Now through August 9th, for every week that you’ve met your personal reading goal, we’ll stamp your Log and give you a raffle ticket for the weekly prize drawing as well as a coupon for a free book. You’ll also get one sticker for every hour of reading to add to our giant wall mosaic!
- Participate in William Jeanes Library programs! Between June 16th and and August 7th, use your log to record any William Jeanes programs you attend. For every week you participate in one or more of our programs, we’ll stamp your Log and give you a coupon for a free book.
Can’t make it to the Library for a program? Here’s one you can participate in from home, any time!
Weekly raffle winners will be drawn every Monday at 12:00 noon between June 22nd and August 3rd. After each weekly drawing, all raffle tickets will be moved to the grand prize drawing bucket.
To “complete” the summer-long challenge earn an extra grand prize raffle entry, simply meet your weekly reading goal each week for all 8 weeks and bring your Reading Log to the Library before August 12th at 4:00.
Prizes, free books, and stickers for our giant wall mosaic will be available only at the Children’s Library (no shipping)!
- Winners will be posted in the Children’s Library and will notified by phone or email.
- Winners of raffle drawings will be given the opportunity to select a prize. Prizes will be on display at the Library throughout the summer.
- Readers who earn free books will be able to select the books of their choice from hundreds of prize books available at the Library.
The Week 8 winner and the Grand Prize winner will be drawn on Wednesday, August 12th at 4:00 p.m. The grand prize winner will have their choice between a 24″ Squishmallows® plush green frog, a hoverboard scooter, or a Yoto Player.
