Win free books and chances to win prizes now through August 8th, just by reading or engaging in early literacy activities, attending programs, and submitting book reviews!

Now through August 8th, stop by the Children’s Library to pick up an Early Literacy Sheet or a Summer Reading Log! For each completed Early Literacy Sheet you bring back to the Library, or for every week that you’ve met your personal reading goal, you’ll receive a raffle ticket for the weekly prize drawing and grand prize drawing as well as a coupon for a free book. You’ll also earn a free book coupon for every week (now through August 8th) during which you participate in one or more William Jeanes programs. Submitting book reviews will also earn you free book coupons!

There will be a raffle drawing every Saturday morning now through August 9th before 10:00 a.m. The weekly winner will be notified by phone and posted in the Children’s Library. Prizes to choose from will be displayed on top of our bookshelves. After the weekly drawing, all raffle tickets will be moved to the grand prize drawing bucket. Check out the pictures of the grand prize choices at the bottom of this page! To “complete” the summer-long challenge earn an extra grand prize raffle entry, simply meet your personal reading goal each week or submit an Early Literacy Sheet each week for all 8 weeks.

We have two Summer Reading Challenge options for children and one for teens (6th-12th grades). Children ages 4 or 5 and under, will most likely do best using Early Literacy Sheets, and children ages 5 or 6 through about 10 or 11 should consider using a Reading Log. Children who have just completed 5th or 6th grade may opt for the Children’s Reading Challenge or the Teen Reading Challenge. Click on the options below to help you and decide which is most appropriate depending on your child’s age, particular interests, needs, and personality.
