Children’s 2025 Summer Reading Challenge (Ages 5-11)

Children’s Summer Reading is coming to a close!

PLEASE NOTE:

RAFFLE ENTRIES

The LAST DAY for children to earn raffle tickets is FRIDAY, AUGUST 8^th. If you met your weekly reading goal every week for 8 weeks, let us know by Friday, August 8th, and we’ll give you an extra grand prize raffle ticket!

FREE BOOKS and WALL MOSAIC STICKERS

You can earn and redeem free book coupons and stickers for the wall mosaic through 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29^th

• Even though you won’t get any raffle tickets after August 8th, you can continue to bring your reading logs to the Library to receive stickers to add to our mosaic wall
• Even though you won’t get any raffle tickets after August 8th, you can continue to receive and redeem free book coupons for:
  • Showing us that you met weekly reading goals by bringing in your reading log
  • Submitting book reviews
  • Attending Library programs

IF YOU HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED THAT YOU ARE A PRIZE WINNER

• Now through through Saturday, August 16^th, prizes will remain on display and you may come select and take home your prize. The only exceptions are the Chatter Splatter and LEGO Discovery Land gift certificates, which if selected, will be provided on Monday, August 25^th.
• From Monday, August 18^th through Saturday, August 23^rd, prizes will no longer be on display, but you can view the Weekly Raffle Prize choices here or the Grand Prize Raffle choices here, or by using a QR code available at the Library. You can tell a staff member which prize you have selected, and they will retrieve it for you. The only exceptions are the Chatter Splatter and LEGO Discovery Land gift certificates, which if selected, will be provided on Monday, August 25^th.
• After Monday, August 25^th, prizes will no longer be available. If you are a winner, and are unable to come claim your prize before August 25th, email Rachel at rfecho@mclinc.org to let her know which prize you would like, and she will set it aside for you until you are able to come pick it up. Read, attend programs, submit book reviews, and you’ll win free books and chances to win prizes now through August 8th! Here’s how:

• Stop by the Children’s Library to pick up a Summer Reading Log! Decide on a weekly reading goal for yourself and record it in your Reading Log.
• Use your Log to keep track of time spent reading and William Jeanes programs attended.
  • Throughout the summer, stop by the Children’s Library and show us your Log. Now through August 8th, for every week that you’ve met your personal reading goal, we’ll stamp your Log and give you a raffle ticket for the weekly prize drawing as well as a coupon for a free book. You’ll also get one sticker for every hour of reading to add to our giant wall mosaic! 
  • Participate in William Jeanes Library programs! When you attend Library programs between now and August 8th, record it in your Log, and for every week you participate in one or more of our programs, we’ll stamp your Log and give you a coupon for a free book.
• Can’t make it to the Library for a program? Here’s one you can participate in from home, any time!
• Submit book reviews! Pick up blank book review slips from the Children’s Library or print your own by clicking here. Book reviews can be written or can be completed by drawing a picture. Return completed book reviews to the Children’s Library and we’ll give you a coupon for a free book. Though we encourage you to complete as many reviews as you like, you will receive only one free book coupon per week (now through August 8th).
• There will be a raffle drawing every Saturday morning between now and August 9th before 10:00 a.m. The weekly winner will be notified by phone and posted in the Children’s Library. Prizes to choose from will be displayed on top of our bookshelves. After the weekly drawing, all raffle tickets will be moved to the grand prize drawing bucket.
• To “complete” the summer-long challenge, meet your personal weekly reading goal each week for 8 weeks, and you will earn an extra grand prize raffle entry.
• Prizes, free books, and stickers for our giant wall mosaic will be available only at the Children’s Library (no shipping)!
  • Winners of weekly raffle drawings and grand prize raffle drawing will be notified by phone.Prizes will be on display at the Library throughout the summer.
  • Readers who earn free books will be able to select the books of their choice from hundreds of prize books available at the Library.
• The 8th weekly raffle drawing and the grand prize drawing will both be on Saturday, August 9th before 10:00 a.m. Winners will be notified by phone and posted in the Children’s Library. The grand prize winner will have their choice between a 24″ Squishmallows® plush green frog, a LEGO City® Passenger Airplane set, an annual pass to Legoland Discovery Center, or a Yoto Player.
