ANNUAL APPEAL 2021

Fall 2021

Dear Library Supporter,

After an unprecedented year in 2020, the William Jeanes Memorial Library and Nicholas and Athena Karabots Center for Learning headed into 2021 with enthusiasm, optimism, and also plenty of back-up plans.

Our Adult, Teen, and Children’s programs were well attended as they moved online or outside, and our staff continued to deliver consistent, professional service to our community both curbside and in person. As the year progressed, our services and resources increased with the easing of pandemic restrictions, and the Library has been able to resume an almost full schedule.

Highlights of the year so far:

  • The William Jeanes Memorial Library and Nicholas and Athena Karabots Center for Learning was the very first library in Montgomery County to eliminate fines on Children’s and Teen books and audiobooks.
  • We were also the first library in the county to institute auto-renewal of our materials, providing this additional convenience to our patrons.
  • We began to circulate mobile hotspots to provide borrowers with vital access to internet resources 24/7.
  • Some great new locations have been added to our very successful Museum Pass program, and we added multiple copies of popular book titles to reduce wait times.

This year we also pursued additional avenues of financial support, by applying for and receiving several new grants, and launching a spring “Dine Around Whitemarsh” fundraiser to help fund our Children’s Summer Reading Program.

We are proud that during this very challenging year, we were able to reduce costs while sustaining our operations and programming, and employing a wonderful staff to dependably serve our community.

MAKE YOUR DONATION HERE TODAY!

This year, as always, we are grateful for the continued support of Whitemarsh Township and the Friends of the William Jeanes Memorial Library.

As we move forward with our phased reopening plans, we are optimistic that we will soon return to our full level of operations.

We hope that you will celebrate the wonderful things happening at our Library, and join our 2021 Annual Appeal with a donation at any level. The Library is a 501(c)3 independent non-profit, and eligible for matching gifts from your employer. The Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) extended the CARES Act charitable deduction limit of $300 per taxpayer ($600 married filing joint) for non-itemizers, and up to 100% of AGI for itemizers.

Donate online HERE, or stop by the Library and ask for a donation envelope. Please make checks out to “William Jeanes Memorial Library.” Online donations receive an emailed receipt.

Please consider a gift to the Library today.

We look forward to continuing to serve our wonderful community and we thank you for your generosity and support!
