STRATEGIC PLAN 2024-2028

The William Jeanes Memorial Library and Nicholas and Athena Karabots Center for Learning serves the Township of Whitemarsh in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It has a service population of 19,707 residents and provides service through a single facility. In 2023, the Library celebrated its 90 anniversary and 11 years since the renovation and addition to the library. The Library is a member of the Montgomery County Library and Information Network Consortium (MCLINC). MCLINC is a shared technology platform that manages the Library’s collections and allows users to borrow items from 32 locations and a bookmobile across the county either in person or by having items sent to the local library. The Library has achieved Gold Star status with the Pennsylvania Library Association’s PA Forward program, in recognition of its outstanding service and programs. Circulation and program attendance while disrupted by the pandemic, now exceed 2019 counts.

The William Jeanes Memorial Library is at a significant juncture in its evolution. In addition to serving the public for 90 years, the Library has an active board, a well-respected director, and an engaged staff. With this setting and the support of Whitemarsh Township, the Library is poised to create a vision to provide service for the future in new and innovative ways. To meet this future-focused outlook, the Library undertook an extensive strategic planning process to develop a vision for success. This document is the culmination of that process.  –from the Introduction
