Friends of the William Jeanes Library

The Friends of the William Jeanes Library group was established in 1950.  Since that time, it has been a vital force in supplementing Library funding.  Through the collection of membership dues and the proceeds from semi-annual book sales, the Friends have been able to support Library services in many ways.  They have augmented the purchase of technological items, books, adult and children’s programs and major building improvements along with responding to other Library requests.

All Whitemarsh residents and Library patrons are welcome to join the Friends of the Library.  The Friends Board of Directors holds a public meeting the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm and holds its Annual Meeting in March.  The meetings are held September through June at the Library located at 4051 Joshua Road.

Semi-annual book sales are conducted at the Library.  Information regarding upcoming book sales as well as acceptance of donations of gently-used books, CDs and DVDs can be found on the Library website and on posted flyers.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Friends of the William Jeanes Memorial Library is to promote and supplement the services, programs, and facilities of the library through various fundraising and volunteer activities.

Membership

Please note that gifts and membership dues payable to the Friends of the Library are processed by the Friends organization and managed by the Friends Board. The Library’s Annual Fund drive, (which supports routine operations, including book purchases) and other special funding campaigns are managed by the Library’s Board of Directors. The Library Board appreciates the support of its Friends organization and the supplemental gifts that enhance regular services. Both organizations are certified as tax-exempt charitable institutions, and all gifts are tax-deductible, consistent with IRS regulations.
