Prom Wear Drive 2019
Our Prom Wear Drive has arrived!
From now until the end of February the Library is accepting donations of new and gently-used:
- formal dresses
- shoes (for men and women)
- evening bags
- suits and suit separates
- other mens formal accessories
Why are we having a Prom Wear Drive? Well, according to a 2015 study from Visa, the average American family is spending almost $1,000 on prom. The formal outfit (especially the dress) alone can cost several hundred dollars. We wanted to be able to help teens attend prom who might not otherwise be able to attend due to the cost.
Two years ago we launched our first Prom Dress Drive, and received almost 300 dresses! (Want to see what our community room looked like with all those dresses? Click here!) We were absolutely astounded the generosity of our donors. Now we decided to open it up to not just dresses, but mens formal wear as well.
Donations can be dropped off at the Library any time while the Library is open. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Teen Librarian Sara Huff at shuff@Mclinc.org or 610-828-0441, ext. 113.
Interested in receiving a FREE prom outfit? Come to our shopping days! They are open to any teen, no questions asked. Click here for more information.
