Paws and Read
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Children’s Craft and Learn Area
School-age children are invited to come practice reading with Therapy Dogs International volunteer teams. The main objective of this program is to provide a relaxed and “dog-friendly” atmosphere, which allows students to practice the skill of reading. Some children have difficulties reading, and as a result have developed self-esteem issues. They are often self-conscious when reading aloud in front of other classmates. By sitting down next to a dog and reading to the dog, all threats of being judged are put aside. The child relaxes, pats the attentive dog, and focuses on the reading. At Paws and Read, children practice the skill of reading, build self-esteem, and associate reading with something pleasant. Space is limited and registration is required. Register below or by calling 610-8528-0441. On the day of the program, you will be given a specific time slot within the hour that your child/ren will be matched with a dog.
