Children ages 6-11 and their families are invited to join Jesse Frechette (he/him), psychotherapist, mindfulness educator, and former Philadelphia area school-based counselor of 20 years, as we learn about what mindfulness is, how it works, how to practice it, and how to apply it in everyday life. We will explore how mindfulness helps to change our relationship to stress, to meet ourselves, our emotions, and what’s happening more skillfully, and to strengthen our own inner friend and ally. Each session we will learn a little more about mindfulness and how it works, one or two new practices, and use real life examples of how to apply mindfulness to the struggles and challenges that children can learn to meet more skillfully. Learning and practicing mindfulness is a protective factor and coping skill in the wellness of children that can help them to meet themselves well now and at each stage in their development.
Registration is required.
These sessions are funded by a Keep It Safe grant, coordinated through Family Services of Montgomery County as part of the county Drug & Alcohol Community Prevention Program, an initiative of the Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of Drug & Alcohol.
