Travel in your kitchen with your taste buds! Sign up for a take-home portion of this month’s spice. We’ll pack up enough to make a dish (we provide the spice, you provide the rest), and include a short geography, history, and sample recipes with the spice for you to enjoy.
Curry isn’t a single spice but a blend of a wide variety of spices and can be mild to very, very spicy. Curry powder is not in fact an authentic Indian spice blend; the word “curry” actually means a type of meal, usually a gravy or sauce with vegetables and/or meat. It was the British colonizers who used the term as a blanket to encompass the tremendous range of flavors found in Indian cuisine. Typically, though, curry is yellow to orange in hue and usually contains turmeric, cumin, ginger, and black pepper for a sweet and warming flavor, but can contain many other spices, such as garlic and cinnamon.
Sign up below and you’ll receive a confirmation email with information about picking up your take & make bag.
Then, join us on Tuesday evening 10/25 to share and discuss what you’ve made with the spice club!
