Teens will learn and practice improvisation games and activities that will help to improve expressive language skills as well promote faster thinking and decrease stress. Come learn to take risks, have fun and to think on your feet
Research has shown that learning improv can help to “retrain” the brain to actively listen, communicate more effectively, be more open to ideas, and work collaboratively.
Plus, because improv is a lot of fun!
Registration is NOT required for this program.
This program will be lead by Paul Deichmann, an improviser, theatre artist, and podcaster. Paul’s been improvising since high school, but it was while teaching theatre (playwrighting, acting, play-production) in Shanghai that he was reminded of how even the best education can neglect to help students become spontaneous, confident, and joyous. Improv was, and is, an excellent solution to that problem.
This program is funded by a Keep It Safe grant, coordinated through Family Services of Montgomery County as part of the county Drug & Alcohol Community Prevention Program, an initiative of the Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of Drug & Alcohol.
