Clams from Mountaintops? Ferns from Coal Mines?

Saturday, March 16th, 2019
10:30 am - 11:30 am
Community Room

Children in grades 3 – 7 are invited to join Karenne Snow, President of the Philadelphia Mineralogical Society for a special presentation: “Our Changing Earth – Clams from Mountaintops, Ferns from Coal Mines?” Come hear the story of how fossils of sea creatures end up on mountain tops, far above sea level and any bodies of water. Hidden deep within the earth’s surface are the remains of ancient forests. Explore the mysteries of our changing earth and the wonder of prehistoric life preserved in the earth’s crust. A variety of fossils will be presented along with some stories about how they got where they were found. Even take home a sample fossil for your collection. You will also receive information about the Rock and Fossil Show occurring in late March in Whitemarsh Township. Register below or by calling 610-828-0441.
