Annual Appeal 2018
As the William Jeanes Memorial Library winds down its 85th anniversary celebration year, we remain committed to delivering high-quality services to the community. In 2017 the Library had 25,000 more visits than in 2012, and we continue to welcome more visitors, add more programs, and circulate more materials than ever before. In the past year:
*185,000 items circulated to our patrons!
*576 new cardholders joined the Library!
*1,103 programs were offered both in the Library and out in the community!
We are always pursuing special opportunities for new programs and present new tools–like the recently launched EBSCO Discovery Service–to allow patrons access the all of resources available in one place.
The Library has been operating at a deficit this year, as our expenses continue to outpace our income. We are grateful to the Township for their continued support. We are constantly searching for grants and other sources of income to offset this discrepancy, so that you do not experience a lag in service. While we welcome participation in all of our fundraising activities throughout the year, a donation to the Annual Appeal remains the best way to support the Library. This direct gift to the Library allows us to apply the funds where we need them, when we need them—new furniture, replacement computers, and new items to circulate as our staff comes up with the great ideas you love!
For the next few months, we will show you just how much you have saved by checking out all of our items instead of buying them: Look at the bottom of your receipt (or receipt email) to see the retail value of the items you’ve checked on your most recent visit as well as since the beginning of the year. Did you know:
*A new hardcover or DVD can cost up to $25.
*A group music class for your child can cost $20 a session.
*A visit to a local museum or zoo could cost $70 for a family of four.
Think of the new materials, free programs, access to the internet, and expert staff you find on every visit to the Library. Please consider a tax-deductible donation to the Library today. (And please consider a matching donation if your employer offers it—your gift is automatically doubled!) If you would like to donate in person, please visit the Library. Checks should be made out to “William Jeanes Memorial Library.” To donate online, please click here.
If you haven’t been to the Library recently, please stop by. We would love to show you all we have achieved together in 85 years.
On behalf of the Library staff, Board, and Friends, we thank you for your support!
