Adult 2023 Summer Reading Challenge

Read, attend programs, submit book reviews, and you’ll be entered for chances to win prizes all summer long! Here’s how:

  • Click here to go to Beanstack, our online Summer Reading Challenge platform. You can use Beanstack on either a computer or the app (downloadable from your device app store). If you haven’t used Beanstack in one of our previous challenges, you’ll first create an account. If you already have an account, just log in! Then all you’ll need to do is select “Adult Summer Reading Challenge” and you’re ready to get started on June 17th.
  • Using Beanstack, keep track of time spent reading, William Jeanes programs attended, and submit book reviews.
    • What counts as reading? Books, ebooks, audiobooks, fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, magazines, comic books, instruction manuals, newspapers…. truly anything at all! You can log minutes without a title (like if you’re reading the newspaper) on Beanstack.
    • For every week that you read at least one hour, you will an entry into that week’s prize drawing and an entry into the Grand Prize Drawing.
    • Participate in William Jeanes Library programs! For every week you participate in one or more of our programs, you’ll earn an entry into that week’s prize drawing and an entry into the Grand Prize Drawing.
    • Submit book reviews! In Beanstack, you can submit reviews of books you have read or listened to.  You’ll earn an entry into that week’s prize drawing and an entry into the Grand Prize Drawing.
  • Don’t want to go digital? Paper entry forms are available for pickup at the Reference Desk. You must bring the slip back by Saturday to be entered for that week’s drawing.
  • There will be a raffle drawing every Monday. Weekly prizes will be your choice of gift certificates to local businesses. There will be a Grand Prize drawing on August 5th for the winner’s choice: a one year family membership to either the Morris Arborteum, Philadelphia Zoo, Barnes Foundation, or Franklin Institute.
  • To “complete” the summer-long challenge, read at least 1 hour each week for 7 weeks, and you will earn an extra grand prize raffle entry!
  • Prizes will be available for pickup at the Library (no shipping)!
    • Winners of weekly raffle drawings and grand prize raffle drawing will be notified by phone or email.
