OFFLINE NOTICE–September 1st through September 7th

LIBRARY CARD NOTICE
Due to our database going offline as described below, you will need your library card to check out any materials between September 1st and September 7th. We will be unable to use a driver’s license to check out library items.
  • If you have misplaced your William Jeanes Memorial Library (WJM) card, just come in with some ID, and we’ll get you a new one for free!*
  • If you just want to replace an old WJM card with the one that includes a keyring card–convenient if you have others picking up your material on a regular basis–we’re happy to do that for you as well, still free!*
  • If you have misplaced a library card from another library, you’ll need to contact them to find out how to replace it. We are unable to replace non-WJM library cards.
  • We do accept your barcode scanned into an app like Keyring, StoCard, AppleWallet, etc.
  • If your card has expired, come on in, and we’ll get you renewed in no time! (If you use Overdrive, you may have noticed that they have resumed blocking expired cards. Just swing by the library so we can update your account.)
This offline period will affect all MCLINC libraries. You will need a library card to check out anything at all MCLINC libraries during this time.
*When replacing a MCLINC library card anywhere, please let the staff know if you use our Overdrive database, as that will have to be changed.
OFFLINE 9/1 – 9/7
The MCLINC libraries are updating their database, which is both the catalog that you use, and the patron information that we see.
What does this mean?
  • Your account will be frozen after we close the evening of Tuesday, 8/31. After this date and until we go back online (9/8 fingers crossed!), you won’t be able to renew any items, pay any fines online, or place any Requests.
  • No notifications will go out.
  • The Library staff will be unable to place anything on Hold for you over the phone or in person.
  • There will be no inter-library deliveries (known as the Pony) during this time, so if you are waiting for an item that is “In transit,” it will remain with that status until at least 9/8.
  • All returned items will have to wait to be checked in until we are back online (hopefully on 9/8.) They will remain OUT on your account, but no fines will accrue during this time.
  • Very few new items will be added to the catalog for the last few weeks of August. But don’t worry, we still have over 55,000 in the building to choose from!
Good News:
  • You will still have access to our online resources like Overdrive, Mango, PowerLibrary, and even Ancestry (from home, through 12/31/21)!
  • Your position on the waitlists won’t change.
  • No items will be due between these dates, and no fines will accrue during this time.
All of the above will apply to ALL MCLINC libraries from 9/1 through 9/7.
Here at William Jeanes, if the catalog shows we had something on our shelves as of 8/31, we will go look for it. If it’s still there, we will hold it for you for 1 day, and you’ll need a library card to check it out.
What will you see afterward?
We hope to be back up and running on 9/8, and then we will start checking in all of the returned items. While your account may still take a few days to become current, no charges will apply during this time. As soon as we are live, you can start placing requests, paying fines, and checking the current status of items on our shelf.
We understand that many of you rely on these services, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to improve our services!
