Nancy Corson

The Friends of the William Jeanes Memorial Library established the Nancy Corson Creative Writing Fund in 2012, in honor of our former long-time Friends board member, who passed away in February of 2012. Nancy was an active and passionate member of the Friends, serving as Membership Chair and maintaining the membership records for many years. In recognition of Nancy’s passion for writing, the Friends have committed to an annual contribution to this fund. Members of the public are welcome to make contributions to the Nancy Corson Creative Writing Fund, which is managed by the Library.

The Nancy Corson Creative Writing Fund makes the annual writing contest possible. Each year, beginning late fall, children are invited to submit original stories to be evaluated in the contest. Winners are selected in the spring from each grade level, Kindergarten through 5th grade, and are honored with a reception, a gift card, and a printed and bound copy of their book. Please contact Rachel Fecho, Children’s Librarian, at rfecho@mclinc.org or 610-828-0441 ext. 104 if you have any questions. For a general idea of what is involved in entering the contest, click here to see this year’s instructions and evaluation rubric. All are welcome to attend this year’s awards receptions, to be held on May 10th for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade winners, and May 11th for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade winners.
